Weber Olcese is pleased to announce that Michael Olcese II has joined the firm as an Associate Attorney. Michael will lead the firmโ€™s newly formed Insurance Law division.ย

Michael brings invaluable experience in the areas of insurance coverage and insurance defense having previously worked for one of the stateโ€™s largest law firms. I know he will be a great addition to our firm,โ€ said Partner Jeff Weber.ย 

Michael has represented an insurer in a successful administrative appeal confirming pricing contracts, such as preferred provider organizations (PPOs), are enforceable as long as the agreement does not exceed the Michigan No-Fault Fee Schedule. Additionally, Michael has successfully argued countless dispositive motions on behalf of insurers and insureds regarding various claims for first and third party no-fault benefits, uninsured/underinsured motorist benefits, premises liability, and general negligence.ย 

Additionally, Michael has been an asset to the entire insurance industry, having published two articles: Insurance and the GIG Economy: The Repercussions of the Narrow Definitions Contained within the Limousine, Taxicab, and Transportation Network Company Act, State Bar of Michigan Journal of Insurance and Indemnity Law, Vol 13 Number 4 (October 2020).ย and Urine Drug Screens and the Michigan No-Fault Act: Reform Bolsters Fraudulent Billing Defense for Insurers, IASIU Michigan Chapter Newsletter, October 2022.ย 

Michael is a two-time Lawyer of Distinction. Michael earned his undergraduate degree from Michigan State University and his law degree from the University of Detroit, where he currently serves as an adjunct law professor.ย
